Mickey On Top of the World

Sometimes when I’m looking for a special something (or someone) to add to our family’s Disney collection, I think the simpler the better.  A perfect example is anything classic Mickey and today’s selection from Nick’s treasure trove of Disney classics is a prime example of exactly what I consider to be the perfect Disney must-have.  Enjoy!

Mickey On Top of the World

By Nick

As I have talked about in past posts, I collect globes. I also, obviously, collect Disney. And my favorite Mickey Mouse era is from the early to mid 30′s. Put them all together, and you get this terrific piece from the Walt Disney Collectors Collection.

Now, obviously he isn’t on a full globe, but close enough.
This is Mickey from the classic 1936 cartoon, “Thru the Mirror”.

This sculpture measures 4.5″ high.

The tail is metal.

This was the Walt Disney Collectors Society member gift sculpture from 2000, and bears the Disney Millennium logo.

Make way for Mickey!

Disney Sleeping Beauty Figurines

Yay for the weekend! I don’t know about you, but this workweek seemed to last forever to me.  Post-Disney depression is in full swing and shows no signs of letting up.  That’s what made me choose these particular items from Nick’s collection to feature today – they are certainly adorable and were a gift from Jill!  Jill is Barbie’s cousin and Nick’s friend and now my friend, too.  She and her husband, Zach, have been at Walt Disney World with Nick and Barbie on the last two times we were there together.  Disney friends are the BEST!  Y’all have a great weekend…Lisa

Disney Sleeping Beauty Figurines

My friend Jill gave my wife and me several ceramic bisque figurines that had belonged to her mother.

These are of Princess Aurora, who by the time she meets Prince Philip is now Briar Rose, and who will eventually be Sleeping Beauty.

.

They are 6 1/4″ tall.

.

We aren’t sure where they were purchased, but they originally sold for $12.99. Searching online, they are supposedly hard to find. Made in Japan.

Maleficent is 7 1/4″ tall.

..

I’m assuming she was the same price.

Disney’s Brave Little Tailor Mickey Mouse Clock

Happy Saturday, Disney Friends!  Let’s go back in time to 1938 for the film debut of Walt Disney’s Brave Little Tailor cartoon starring Mickey Mouse!  One of the all time classics, this 9-minute adventure (based on a tale by the Brothers Grimm) showcases Walt Disney at his finest as both the film’s creator and the voice of Mickey Mouse.  Nick’s Disneyana collection contains several items derived from this cartoon and today I’ve found a special and unique treasure to share with you.  Y’all have a great weekend!

Disney’s Brave Little Tailor Mickey Mouse Clock

 – By Nick

In previous posts, I discussed 2 items I bought way back in 1996 from the Official Disneyana Convention, a mug and a hat. Today I’d like to share a resin clock I purchased on eBay, also from the convention.

Mickey as the Brave Little Tailor measures 5 1/4 inches high from the bottom of the base to the tip of his feather.

The clock battery has expired, and needs to be replaced.

Like the mug, this clock is limited to 2000 pieces.

I also have an ornament from the convention, which I originally purchased in 1996, which I will share in a future post.

Subscription Box Review: Star Wars Smuggler’s Bounty

Happy Saturday, Disney Friends!  This week I registered Joseph and I for a local 10k we plan to use as proof of time for next year’s runDisney Dark Side Challenge.  This got me thinking about Star Wars stuff, which led me to a fantastic article to share for Saturdays With Nick!  Enjoy and have a super fantastic weekend!

Subscription Box Review:  Star Wars Smuggler’s Bounty

By Nick

A couple of months ago, my friend Toria shared a post on my Facebook page announcing a new mystery box collaboration between Funko Pop and Lucasfilm called Star Wars Smuggler’s Bounty.

Each box promises to contain Pop vinyl, apparel, accessories, collectibles and more, all exclusive and a $50 value!

There are 2 types of membership available.

Pirate is the recurring monthly plan which ships one box every other month, with the option to cancel anytime. This option is $25.

Smuggler is the annual plan, which is $150, and includes an exclusive gift on the anniversary of membership.

I decided to give it a try. If there are items I don’t want, I will sell them on eBay, and I went with the Smuggler option for the anniversary gift.

My bounty arrived yesterday!

Upon opening the box, a pin and a patch, with a welcome message;
Behold your first share of Smuggler’s Bounty

I opened the flap to find a lanyard, tee shirt, and 2 Pop figures.

Apparently there is a variant Tie Fighter Pilot!

I’ll likely put the lanyard and patch, and Tie Fighter Pilot on eBay. I’m wearing the shirt as I write this!
I’m holding on to Captain Phasma until after I see The Force Awakens, just in case this turns out to be a collectible I want to hold on to.

I’m very excited I decided to become a Smuggler, and I eagerly await my next bounty!

Our recurring monthly plan ships one box to you every other month. Your payment method will be automatically billed every other month. Each box contains $50 of value in exclusive, high-quality Star Wars & Funko collectible products. No fluff, no filler!
No commitments – cancel anytime.
